Back again!

So I have been gone for awhile. Between the holiday and moving into our new apartment I feel like I haven't stopped. So an update of what has happened since I've last talked.

1) I started Culinary Arts school at TCC
2) Savannah had her 15 month check-up and is officially in the 90th percentile
(which means only 10% of kids her age are taller and weigh more than her)
3) Steven went on overnights. Which is no fun whatsoever.
4) We moved into our new apartment. I love having all of my furniture and things back!

So as you can see we have been somewhat busy lately. It's made me realize that we need to set time aside to spend with our family. No matter what is going on you have to say put it down and go outside and play or sit and play a game or whatever just do it. So we have decided that every day there will be a little bit of time where Savannah is the focus of our attention and we all just hang out and have fun!

Santa...Friend or Stranger?

So Savannah saw Santa for the first time on Friday. She did amazingly good. There were no tears but there were also no smiles also. She walked up to him (while holding my hand of course) and just stared. I picked her up and put her in his lap. The best picture we could get is to the right. The other that she was looking at the camera for just had this look of complete and utter shock that she was sitting in a strangers lap!

What's a Mom to do?

So while talking with my family today I was reminded of a situation that happened around 2 weeks ago when my husband, daughter and I were at the DMV taking care of car registrations. While my husband was at the counter I was allowing Savannah to run around and see everything. There was a little boy there a few months older than her. He was very interested in Savannah and came over. He came up to her and looked at her and then pushed her down. His mother was instantly apologetic and pulled her son away. I didn't think it was too big a deal. Savannah wasn't crying and got right back up and walked back over to him. I was very surprised as she can be extremely dramatic at times. Instead she walked over and put out her hand to him. I thought, Oh isn't that sweet. She is so forgiving. Boy was I wrong. As soon as he put his hand in hers, she snaked her fingers up the back of his arm and pinched him as hard as she could. She then proceeded to smile at him and walk away. I was so shocked. I started to apologize and the mom got her son (who was howling by the way) and went back to the other side of the DMV. I wasn't and still am not sure what to think. On one hand I am appalled that my 1 year old sweet angel even understands that pinching hurts. But on the other hand he did push her down. I have to admit I didn't discipline her for it. I was too busy laughing after the mom and son left. I mean I know she shouldn't hurt others but he started it right?

Boxes, tags and Dog Crates?

Okay...so if you already have kids you know that the best present you can ever give your child is the box their real gift came in or the tags off of the clothes you spend tons of money on. However, I have never see a child so entranced with a dog crate as my daughter. She love to put things in it, take things out and get in it herself. It's an extra bonus if the dog is already in there (she thinks it's a bonus not the dog). She will get in and out, in and out over and over completely mesmerized with the whole idea of the crate.

She is also obsessed with getting the dog out when we place her in there (which is only when she is bad). Savannah has a small problem with Kelty getting in trouble. In fact she normally starts to cry when Kelty gets even in a small amount of trouble. It's quite hilarious. She doesn't get as upset when she is in trouble. When Kelty gets in a lot of trouble and it put in her crate Savannah will go over and sit down and do her very best to get her best friend out. It's really funny to watch.

So here it goes!

So it seems that everyone and their mother is doing the blogging thing now. So I thought I would give it a try. I was going good until I got to the part where it asks what the title of your blog will be. I sat and looked and thought and looked and thought. Then it came to me, what is the center most important thing in my life...my husband and my daughter. Now I could write about my husband but he doesn't do much in the realm of amusing on a daily basis like my 1 year old daughter, Savannah does. So with that in mind I am going to be writing about the daily happenings of living with a one year old.

Just so you don't get bored just reading about my kids I'll be adding recipes that are quick and easy and kids like as well as some travel tips we pick up along the way. I would love to hear from everyone as well. Some recipes that work for you and any tips you pick up along the way!

Hope to hear from you soon!!
